Yep, windsurfing in the UK actually rocks!

Just 1 hr train ride from London, you can be in East Beach, Shoreham or Brighton Beach. Winds at the Thames were about 20+ knots and I was on a 4.0 - 4.7, shallow water when the tides go out. Excellent for practicing freestyle maneuvers, just dont get caught in low tide or you have to walk about 1/2 mile back in. And don't go past that jetty because there are WW II land mines still lurking out there. So Andy tells me anyway.

East Beach

Situated in Shoeburyness adjacent to the Army firing range on Foulness island to the east and facing south east. It has a huge car park of it's own and plenty of grass rigging area.
This beach is extremely popular in a north east blow and can attract a couple of hundred short boards on a good day, slalom or bump and Jump boards being the majority. The only drawback is that it only has 5 hours sailing per tide. The tide goes out for about a mile and the bottom is flat hard sand for this distance, it produces amazing flat water sailing at the beginning and end of the tides.
Amenities: Beach Cafe, toilets and coast guard station.
